Rated R for infRingement

John Welch reports that the TTAB has ruled that the trademark “RATED R SPORTSWEAR” is confusingly similar to the famous “RATED R” movie certification mark. We wrote about another “ratings logo” lawsuit a while ago.

The irony is that most of the outfits (read this in a reedy old person’s voice) these young people nowadays go around in (end old man voice) are indeed worthy of an R rating, at best. Perhaps they could institute an entire rating system for sartorial performances — rated R for Reprehensible, F for Fabulous, T for Tacky, or perhaps for “Tent,” as in, “see Omar.”

Just a thought from an habitually over-dressed old fuddy-duddy. I defer to Susan Scafidi on matters of fashion.
