Anheuser-Busch crows:
The Supreme Court of Sweden found no reason to hear an appeal filed by Czech brewer Budejovicky Budvar, ending a seven-year-old trademark dispute with Anheuser-Busch. The decision preserves the lower court ruling providing for Anheuser-Busch’s exclusive “Budweiser” trademark rights in Sweden.
Do they sell a lot of Bud in Sweden? Not really; the most they say is that sales in Sweden were up by 10% last year. But AB is engaged in a worldwide fight over its brand integrity, with mixed results. So they’ll take what they can get, and gladly.
Doesn’t make it taste any better, mind you. But that’s not the subject of this blog.
